GOAL #1 - To increase each student’s achievement
The Board of Education expects that each of our schools develop a professional culture in which there is:
- a focus on and a commitment to the learning of each student
- the development of collaborative teams that work interdependently to achieve common goals for student learning
- continued capacity building in effective instructional practices
- assessment for, of and as learning at all grade levels
- continued capacity building of intervention strategies at all levels
- continued capacity building in literacy and numeracy
- enhancement of the performance of underachieving learners
- the provision of relevant learning opportunities for all learners
- a commitment for all students and adults to develop the skills and attitudes required for success in the 21st century
GOAL # 2 – To have positive learning environments in all classrooms and schools
The Board of Education expects that the District and each of our schools develop a culture in which there is:
- an ongoing district-wide collegial and collaborative relationship
- a stated “credo” that all students can learn
- support and promotion for all areas of student achievement
- support and promotion of healthy school initiatives
- respect for all cultures and all communities
- positive and proactive communication
- the continued building of leadership capacity among students, teachers, support staff and school administrators
- the personalization of learning
- a sense of belonging for all students
- commitment to an environment that is mutually respectful and safe for all members of the school community
