What is it?
A citizen is a member of a community i.e. Canadian citizen, Vanderhoof citizen, Sinkutview elementary citizen. (school wide survey)

Good citizens understand that they have a responsibility to the community, environment and rules. Here, our focus is on being a good citizen at our school.
Traits of good citizenship include:
- following the rules
- being a good friend by looking out for and caring about others
- treating others with respect and dignity
- sharing your time and skills to the community to make it better, cleaner and safer
- taking care of the environment i.e. practicing the three R's: Reduce, Re-use, Recycle
- staying informed and participating with things happening that affect your community
- taking responsibility for what goes on around you
What does it look like?
- doing the right thing, especially when it is difficult
- doing the right thing, even when no one is looking
- showing concern for the safety of others
- taking responsibility for your actions
- reflecting on how your actions affect the welfare of others
What does it sound like?
- accepting responsibility for your actions, choices, or decisions
- non-judgmental language that does not offend, demean, or hurt
Where do we see it?
- in the classroom
- in the hallways
- in the gym
- on the playground
- on the bus
