From Telegraphe de Quebec Webquest .... for the development of students understanding of a Canadian provincial culture.
Language - Quebec, a bilingual province

This Webquest learning system asks that you:

... act as a travel agent and create a travel brochure that recommends from 2 to 3 travel destinations within the province of Quebec.
For travellers to visit places in Quebec they should be prepared to understand that much of the province speaks French rather than English.

To help your travellers, include phrases and vocabulary that your travellers could use in Quebec.

Language links:
Links to French language tools, dictionaries, and activities is a great site at http://www.education.mcgill.ca/433-661bw98/mgagne/activities.html

Newspapers and magazines:

When travelling, and looking for good places to visit, it is often a good idea to look into local newspapers and magazines in order to find out how the local people describe these places in their own language.

Prepared by Fahreen Nanji, Jill French and Sandy Anaka. This project is to be used with the Grade 6 social studies, language arts, visual arts and French curriculum for anyone interested in investigations using an inquiry format. This project was created in part through a UBC Graduate Course.
