Superintendent of Schools, Karla Mitchell has provided notice of resignation to the Nechako Lakes School District Board of Education as she moves to a new role as Superintendent of Schools with the Vernon School District next school year.

Board of Education Chair, Dave Christie, stated “that it is regretful that Karla is leaving as she has been leading the district forward over the past two years. Her dedication, leadership and focus on the Board's Strategic Plan was evident in all her work. As Superintendent, Karla prioritized inclusion, Indigenous relations, as well as workforce recruitment and development. On behalf of the Board of Education, I wish Karla success in her new role and thank her for her contributions to our school communities."

The Board of Education will hold a special In-Camera meeting on May 16, 2024, to discuss the timelines and next steps to fill this upcoming vacancy.
